In the Marine Corps, as an officer, I was issued a watch with big numbers, big minute/hour/second hands and radioactive in the dark type paint. You had to wind them every day! I understood pilots too!

Thanks for reading Chip - I really like those Vietnam-era military issue field watches- not sure if that's what your's was like. I know some of the big names like rolex would make some of them, but I have a feeling those would be issued to those "in the know".
